Features a great 53' performance by Roy Campbell, John Betsch, Barre Phillips, and dancer Maria Mitchell; a 12' excerpt from the Spiritworld documentary on artist Jeff Schlanger, musicWitness®; t;; two 7' experimental films created for projection with improvised music by Barre Phillips and Gunter Christmas; a 20' master performance by Barre Phillips in Bass Quartet. 1984 is a long time ago now; Don Cherry was still alive here on Earth. This is the first time on DVD (made in short run pressing by director Ebba Jahn herself) of a rather wonderful [read me right; I think eternal] film shot in NYC during that year. Captured here in through-narrative detail is both the actualization of the first Sound Unity Festival (manifest by Peter Kowald and William Parker & pre-cursor to the Vision Festival) and an intimate portrait of Charles Gayle (pre-'discovery').
